SEVENGEN 2024

Infinite Voices, Shared Futures
Oct 1 - 3 | Iqaluit, Nunavut

The third biennial SevenGen Summit will aim to bring north and south together for a uniquely by Indigenous youth, for Indigenous youth experience. With a theme of “Infinite Voices, Shared Futures”, SevenGen 2024 will empower Indigenous youth to amplify their own and each other’s voices, as a way to chart a course to a sustainable energy future for every community. In particular, we aspire to bring together to and learn from the voices of Indigenous youth from across the north, who historically and presently continue to be excluded in the clean energy and climate action conversation.

About the SevenGen Indigenous Youth Energy Summit

The 2024 SevenGen Indigenous Youth Energy Summit will be held in Iqaluit, Nunavut from October 1-3, 2024.  Following two successful Summits in 2019 and 2022, our third biennial summit will bring together Indigenous leaders, community members, industry experts, government officials and stakeholders from across Turtle Island to engage in dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaboration on energy-related issues.

Key features of the Summit include:

  • Career exploration sessions that facilitated direct mentorship and career development opportunities with professionals

  • Speaking panels on cross-cutting issues that affect Indigenous communities in the energy transition, such as water, food security, and accessing climate finance

  • All sessions designed and delivered by Indigenous youth, with priority given to Indigenous communities

  • Gathering up to 200 young leaders from every province and territory

2019 SevenGen Summit: Grey Eagle Resort. Tsuut'ina Nation, AB

2022 SevenGen Summit: Dakota Dunes Resort. Whitecap Dakota Nation, SK

Please join us at the SevenGen Energy summit as we explore the following conversations:

  • Indigenous youth-led energy solutions

  • Empowering Indigenous youth to lead in living sustainably through the intersection of food, energy, and water.

  • Encouraging delegate, speaker, government, and industry collaboration towards breaking barriers in our shared energy futures

  • Exploring the energy future being Indigenous.

Why “SevenGen?”

Our name is inspired by the Lakota prophecy that says the seventh generation are the ones who will bring and lead change. Indigenous youth today are the seventh generation who can and will lead change and restore peace. As we lead this summit and aim to inspire youth and all energy leaders, we want to encourage them to embody another part of the seventh generation principle that says the decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future.
